Description

The Ford Mustang Fastback from the movie Bullitt is a legendary car with a truly timeless shape, and this one looks like an impressive tribute build. It’s reportedly been restored – and it now boasts a 302-cubic-inch V8 and the famous shade of dark green. It also touts some other nice upgrades, including 15-inch American Racing wheels, a 9-inch rear end, and air conditioning.

1968 Ford Mustang Fastback, finished in dark green with a black interior.

  • This Mustang was recently restored, according to the former owner, and it features several modifications inspired by the Mustang that Steve McQueen drove in the 1968 movie Bullitt. Its factory-fitted 289-cubic-inch V8 was reportedly replaced by a 302-cubic-inch V8 during the restoration.
  • A Marti Report details this Mustang’s factory equipment. A partial list of notable currently installed equipment reported by the selling dealer includes 15-inch American Racing wheels, vinyl upholstery, Vintage Air air conditioning, and an Alpine head unit.
  • The original Ford Mustang made its debut during the 1964 World’s Fair in New York City. The brand received 22,000 orders for it in the 24 hours following the unveiling; The Mustang quickly became the must-have car of the year. At launch, the Mustang was available with 6- or 8-cylinder engines. Convertible and fastback variants later joined the range, and Ford updated the original Mustang several times during its production run. Production ended after the 1973 model year.
  • Power comes from a 302-cubic-inch V8. The selling dealer estimates its output to be at about 350 horsepower, but a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission.
